Established in 2012, MENA Environmental Defenders began as a small network of legal professionals and environmental scientists in Beirut. Our catalyst was the unprecedented degradation of coastal ecosystems that threatened the livelihoods of local fishing communities.

What started as a local legal aid clinic has transformed into the region's most formidable ecological watchdog. We operate at the intersection of international law and grassroots activism, bridging the gap between high-level policy and the reality on the ground.
