HECTARES PROTECTED THROUGH LITIGATION
"The environment knows no political borders. We founded this collective to ensure that the air and water we share are defended with the same vigor as national security."
Established in 2012, MENA Environmental Defenders began as a small network of legal professionals and environmental scientists in Beirut. Our catalyst was the unprecedented degradation of coastal ecosystems that threatened the livelihoods of local fishing communities.
What started as a local legal aid clinic has transformed into the region's most formidable ecological watchdog. We operate at the intersection of international law and grassroots activism, bridging the gap between high-level policy and the reality on the ground.
